It’s a feeling and it’s art and that’s exactly what Black Coffee is doing with his fantastic music that he makes. Day Zero 2023 took place deep inside Tulum’s jungle on January 9th. That’s what music is all about – uniting people and making people feel something whether it’s good or bad.
I’ve got to admit also, that it is just amazing to see so many people around me smiling. There are people showing off some of their best shapes. and selectors, inimitably curated by Day Zero founder Damian Lazarus. There are some huge peaks of this set where everyone around me is in a state of euphoria when one of the beat drops into a mid tempo groove. He is definitely one of those musicians who has embarked on a crossover sort of sound, incorporating traditional African and East Asian instruments into his sound, but somehow it is done in a way that just makes him sound current throughout this set. Black Coffee is a DJ who knows exactly what he is doing with his original beats and his flow with the music that he so proudly creates.
